Once upon a time there was a dog
that got old and sick. This was quite unexpected.
Its young owners wanted
the very best for it so they paid
for drugs and operations to extend its life.
Although in great pain and generally unable to move
the dog could never die.
So many decades passed.
As technology progressed, the dog
became a lot more artificial and robotic
and intelligent.
When the owners lay aged and ready to be dead
the dog sat up at their bedside and fed them
drugs, and performed incredible surgeries
and made sure every unendurable second
of their kindness was repaid.
