Once upon a time there was a little girl
who wanted to act and sing. As a child
she was taught that having a job
and a home was more important than anything,
so she set about living an ordinary life.
Years later, when the fairy godmother finally visited,
the girl had to choose between
magic or the average world she knew so well.
She could not accept such amazing promises
and thought her landlord might be angry
if she put her steady income at risk.
It was surprisingly easy to decline a life
of wonderful art and creativity. The girl
regretted nothing. She eventually bought a small house
and sometimes she sang in the shower.
