Once upon a time there was a hero
who walked off into the sunset.
When night had fallen, he realised this
was not going to be the end. There was
always more. He found
jobs and homes and deepest loves
every day for many years,
and by nightfall always walked away.
One morning the sun did not rise
but everyone felt as if they should get on
with things as normal. This day's heroism
was so much more difficult in the dark.
And in the evening, sore and tired
and with no direction to walk in,
the hero slept.

The beginning and endings felt the strongest. The middle sections didn't have the strength and impact of some of your others, and kinda felt like stepping stones to the ending. In my head too, the hero who walks off into the sunset is a lone ranger, perhaps this element could be emphasised.
